Quest for a Harpers Bazaar Magazine

Oh really?

Everytime I go to wal-mart, malls, blockbuster, super markets I check out what magazines/books they have. You never know what kind of stuff you will find. Up until November I never had a problem finding interesting magazines that talked about Twilight. Well when the HB magazine came out with Robert and Kristen on the front, this magazine was the hardest to find anywhere. I first tried at wal-mart, they got everything right? Well no they don't, not when you really really want it! They were out! Just an empty spot where I had seen previous issues. I even scanned the entire magazine section, hoping that someone either stashed one (I know mean, but I was desperate)or someone had left one in the wrong place. Nothing!

So I try my local grocery store, they usually carry them. Well when I get a chance to run by there, the grocery store's magazine section only had 2 issues left. I pick up the first one and start to scan the magazine to check for imperfections. The outside cover was perfect, but when I went to inspect the pics and article that I wanted . . . it was missing. I spent 5 minutest with this magazine looking through and through. I at first thought I was going crazy, so I went page by page again. That's when I noticed pages were MISSING! Apparently I am not the only one in Wilburton that likes Robert and Kristen. So on to the next copy of HB, and I discovered that it had a big scratch right down the cover over Kristen's face. Aah! What the hey? So stupid me, I leave that copy, I don't want a scratch on the cover like that. I'm one of those weirdos that leaves the really good magazines in the plastic bags to keep them dust/scratch free.

I'm not worried just yet, since I am planning a trip to Fort Smith next week. It's a big city compared to my little town, surely there will be copies there. Well let me tell you, I went to Fort Smith and found only 1 copy! This one I found in Walden's Books. Woo hoo right? Not that simple, this one too had a scratched cover. What luck! Well me being me, I leave that copy. I like to think postive most of the time, so surely surely there is a unscratched copy somewhere in the state of Oklahoma. Besides a new New Moon t-shirt at Hot Topic, I only went to Fort Smith to get a HB magazine. Talk about the most depressing day that I've had in awhile. I even stopped in a good size city on the way back from Fort Smith to check their wal-mart, and no copies to be found. Right about then I was telling myself how stupid I was for not grabbing the scratched copy at my local grocery store the week prior. The next day I go back to the grocery store, and both copies are now gone.

Thinking I will finally have to contact the magazine company and just order one, I email my mom in Wisconsin. I had ordered her a dvd off the Internet a couple of weeks prior, and she was going to pay me back for it. I told her that if she could locate a HB magazine and mail it to me, then consider the dvd paid for. Well when I checked my email two days later, I got the greatest news possible. She had not only located one (with no scratches), but had it purchased and shrink wrapped! Oh yes, I love this lady! She told me that after reading my email, she inlisted the local library lady in my quest. After 10 minutes of calling around, they found a copy at Book World (think thats the name) in a surrounding city. Book World was going to hold back a copy for her. But as it just so happens, she couldn't make it to Book Work that day. However her boyfriend's younger sister works about 2 blocks away, so she was able to pick up the last copy the next day. Fortunately the sister is a collector too, so she made sure not to wrinkle the pages and kept it in the plastic bag. I still don't have the HB magazine yet, but I can rest assured that there is a copy just for me in safe keeping in Wisconsin.
Looking back, I probably should have just gotten a subscription saved me some time and effort. But I ask you who would've known that a quest for a Haper's Bazaar would be so hard?

Hello!

First entry! Yeah, on my way! Hello to the person reading this! I'm still kinda new to lj, and I'm looking around trying to figure out where everything is still.  So don't judge me on too harshly please. I tend to spend way too much time on Twitter. I used to be a Myspace junkie, but got hooked on Twitter, and now I stay up way too late just to catch up on tweets that were made while I was at work. I look forward to meeting a few peeps from Twitter on here as well. I fully intend to post more or post in some of the comm's that I recently joined. But for now that's all I got.
